Freebase

I come from the linguistic world. I've studied linguistic and language computer processing at university. I am interested in ontology and world representation applied in AI. Semantic Web ("Web 3.0").

Wordnet is interesting. But I never found it appealing.

Today I discovered Freebase. You can run queries that you can not run with Google.

I wrote a little Ruby class that searches this base.
I can run queries like: "What is Toulouse" and get answers like /common/topic, /location/location, /location/citytown, /location/dated_location, /location/statistical_region, /music/track

More to come !
